Welcome to Album Cover Guesser, the ultimate test of your music knowledge. You'll see iconic album artwork from the last 60 years and have to identify the album title, artist, and release year before time runs out. Can you recognize them all?
This game has taken over TikTok, Twitter, and Reddit—now it's your turn to prove you're a true music fan. Start with easy classics or jump into expert mode for obscure indie gems. Track your score, compete on the leaderboard, and challenge your friends to beat your record.
Whether you're a casual listener or a music encyclopedia, Album Cover Guesser will test how well you really know your albums. Ready to play?
Playing is simple but challenging. Each round, you'll see an album cover and you have 30 seconds to identify three things: the album title, the artist name, and the release year. You can answer all three or just one—the more you get right, the higher your score. Speed matters too—answer quickly and get bonus points.
Start with Easy mode if you're newer to the game, or jump straight into Hard mode if you're a music encyclopedia. Decade mode lets you focus on a specific era. Each game consists of 10 rounds, and your score is tracked on our global leaderboard.
The trickier part? Spelling counts! Album titles and artist names must be spelled correctly to earn points. But don't worry—the game shows you the correct answers after each round so you can learn.
Album artwork is iconic. From The Beatles' Abbey Road crosswalk to Kanye West's minimalist designs, cover art tells the story of an album and often becomes instantly recognizable. Some album covers are so famous they've transcended music—they're cultural touchstones.
This game tests not just your music knowledge but your visual memory and cultural literacy. Can you recognize The Dark Side of the Moon by its prism? Spot Thriller by Michael Jackson's iconic red jacket? Know The Velvet Underground & Nico by that famous banana?
Whether you're a Boomer who remembers buying vinyl records, a Gen X rocker, a Millennial who grew up with iTunes, or Gen Z discovering classics—there's an album cover quiz for you.
Easy Mode (2000-Present, Mainstream): These are albums you've heard on the radio, seen on Billboard charts, or streamed millions of times. Think Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Drake. If you listen to pop, hip-hop, or contemporary rock radio, you'll recognize most of these.
Medium Mode (1980-Present, Mixed): A blend of classics and modern hits. You'll see iconic 80s and 90s albums alongside recent releases. This is the sweet spot for casual music fans with broader taste.
Hard Mode (1960-Present, Deep Cuts): This is for true music nerds. Expect obscure indie releases, cult classics that never topped the charts, and forgotten gems from every genre. You might see covers from Pitchfork's best albums list or cult favorites from music subreddits.
Decade Mode: Pick a decade—any year from the 1960s to today—and test your knowledge of that era's most notable releases.
In the early 2020s, 'Name This Album' challenges went viral on social media. TikTokers, Twitter users, and Redditors started sharing album cover compilations as challenges: 'Bet you can't get all 10.' Music fans loved it because it combined three things: nostalgia, competition, and music knowledge.
The game taps into the reality that in the streaming era, many listeners don't see album art anymore—songs just play through your phone. But for older music fans, album covers are instant memories. For younger fans, discovering iconic artwork from decades past is part of the appeal.
Our tool brings that organic, viral challenge into one place where you can play unlimited rounds, track your score, and see how you compare to other players worldwide.
