Why Campaign Tracking Matters in 2026

With the 2026 midterm elections approaching, campaign dynamics are shifting weekly. Candidates are entering and exiting races, polling numbers are volatile, and fundraising totals reveal who has momentum. Voters, political analysts, and campaign watchers need real-time data to understand the landscape.

Campaign Tracker aggregates data from official FEC filings, major polling firms (Gallup, Pew, Quinnipiac, and others), campaign websites, and news sources to give you the most current snapshot available. Unlike traditional news outlets that cover campaigns sporadically, this tool is always current.

Whether you're deciding who to support, researching local ballot measures, or just staying informed, Campaign Tracker gives you the facts you need without the spin.

Understanding Campaign Metrics

Polling: We display the average of recent polls for each race. Polling is a snapshot of voter preferences at one moment and can change rapidly. Lower sample sizes mean less reliable data.

Fundraising: Total dollars raised by a candidate through June 30th of the current cycle (per FEC reports). Cash-on-hand shows what they have available to spend. Fundraising trends show momentum.

Favorability: Favorable vs. Unfavorable ratings from recent polling. Higher favorability typically correlates with electability.

Events: Upcoming campaign events, debates, rallies, and town halls. Event attendance and reach can indicate campaign strength and voter engagement.

Endorsements: Major endorsements from party leaders, organizations, or notable figures. Key endorsements can shift momentum in a race.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions

How often is the data updated?
Polling data is updated as new polls are released (typically daily). Fundraising data updates quarterly per FEC filings. Breaking news and events update in real-time as campaigns announce them. Campaign status changes (candidates entering/exiting) are updated as announced.
Which races does Campaign Tracker cover?
We track all federal elections (Presidential, U.S. Senate, U.S. House), gubernatorial races, major state legislature races, and significant local races (mayoral, city council in major cities). Ballot measures are tracked at the state level. Coverage expands as we approach Election Day.
Why might polling look different from your tracker vs. Other sites?
We use a weighted average that gives more weight to recent, larger-sample polls and polls rated as higher quality by FiveThirtyEight and other analysts. Different sites weight polls differently. We also include only polls within a certain recency window (typically 2-3 weeks for general race polls).
What does 'Fundraising Momentum' mean?
It shows whether a candidate's fundraising is growing or shrinking compared to the previous quarter. Upward momentum often indicates growing support and media attention. Downward momentum can signal fading candidacy.
Can I get alerts for specific candidates or races?
Yes. After searching or selecting a race, click 'Set Alert' to get notifications for breaking news about that candidate, major polling moves, or upcoming events. Choose alert frequency in your settings.
